How to Choose CD Players for Kids
By Mark Daymond

All children love listening to music. Even from the earliest age, gentle music can help to soothe restless babies, so buying a CD player for your child is the perfect gift. However, finding the right CD players for kids is not as easy as you might expect. All children are different after all and they different preferences and tastes.

Many toddlers not only love to listen to music, they love to participate. And of course, the easiest way to participate is to sing along to their favorite songs. Many manufacturers have realised this and produced units that incorporate one or more microphones. The sound quality of these can be somewhat variable, so you should check before you buy. Mercifully for parents, the volume of the microphones is usually limited.

For slightly older children, a consideration could be for a character based CD player. There are units based on a range of movie, story, TV and other characters so there is bound to be something that will appeal to your child. Disney characters are particularly popular. You should consider the longevity of appeal however. Many characters appeal to a wide age range of children, but there are some that your child may grow out of rather quickly.

Another factor when choosing CD players for kids is to consider the durability of the item as they will need to be able to withstand plenty of general misuse and abuse at the hands of your child. However much you tell your child to be careful with their sound system, it is inevitable that at times they will forget themselves and not treat it as cautiously as you would like. During play there will be times when toys are dropped on it or when it is moved and put down rather more heavily than it should be. Therefore, checking out the system's durability is a must.

CD players for kids are a great gift for any child. However, it is important to undertake a little research before purchasing in order to ensure that you buy the right one for your child.
